Rag Dolls for Christmas Party Exchange

So, I'm messing with the doll and, it seems the directions I printed last minuet aren't the same as the ones used to create the kit. I've asked for those more particular directions and I will share them, when I get them.

You may choose not to use the skin colored area and remove it completely if you'd like, or simply move it closer to the top, if you prefer to use the directions that were enclosed. This will result in a fuller skirt.

Please don't feel like the doll needs to be totally decked out. Just a couple of touches of personality. Please remember to use appropriate materials that will last, i.e. fabric glue, fabric markers, tacking things on with thread and not temporary items such as electrical tape, washable markers, foamies, etc.

Above all have fun with it :)

Update 12/13/17:

The doll directions from last year found me! LOL, I had asked for a new copy, but hadn’t heard back and like magic there this was sitting in the middle of the dining room floor...I think the girls were rooting around in there.

Anyhow, the 2nd sheet shows how to get manageable arms with the centered head design.

I apologize for the quality, I used my phone to capture an already dark print out.

Here's some examples I found online.

Thinking Day Country for 2018

We need to pick our country for Thinking Day at the Service Unit Meeting on November 6th. Please talk to your scout(s) about what countries they might be interested in and list them in the comments on the corresponding post to our GS Troop 5125 Facebook Group. On the 1st, I'll rank the selections and submit a poll to help us decide. If they have a particular reason they are interested in a country list it so the others can see and understand as well.

Share a Song

Here are the list of songs we're going to perform.

Each song has a link to a video and a link to the printed lyrics.

Be prepared to help the troop learn your song at our August 1st. meeting. :)

Print Song Book here ---> PRINTABLE SONG BOOK

Here is a You Tube playlist (<--link ) with all the songs.

Google Drive song files (MP3)

Google Drive video files (MP4)

Each song is listed below with lyrics and a link to a video. Each song has either a "Lyrics Video" and/or a "Song Video". I was looking for videos with the lyrics on the screen, but if that video didn't really capture the sound of the song I added a "Song Video" that has a better sound.

Ultimately we all need to know all the songs, but I thought it's be fun to teach each other. So, learn your song, but it's good to become familiar with all the songs.

On My Honor
Lyrics Video
Chorus :
On my honor, I will try.
There's a duty to be done and I say aye.
There's a reason here and a reason above.
My honor is to try and my duty is to love.
People don't need to know my name.
If I've done any harm, then I'm to blame.
If I've helped another, then I've helped me.
And I've opened up my eyes to see.
I've tucked away a song or two.
If you're feeling low, there's one for you.
If you need a friend, then I will come.
And there's many more where I come from.
Chorus
Come with me where the fire burns bright,
We can even see better by the candle's light.
And we'll find moremeaning in a campfire's glow,
Than we've ever found in a year or so.
We've a promise to always keep.
And to pray "Softley Falls" before we sleep.
We are Girl Scouts together and when we're gone,
We'll still be trying and singing this song.
Chorus

Make New Friends

ASL Instruction Sheet

Just the first verse in ASL.
We'll do the first verse with ASL, then just sing the 2nd.

Make new friends, but keep the old.
One is silver, the other is gold.

A circle is round, it has no end.
That's how long I want to be your friend.

Brownie Smile
Lyrics Video
Singing Video

I've got something in my pocket, it belongs across my face.
I keep it very close at hand, in a most convienient place.
I'm sure you couldn't guess it if you guessed a long, long while.
So I'll take it out and put it on, it's a Great Big Brownie Smile!

Barges
Lyrics Video
Song Video

Barges, I would like to go with you
I would like to sail the ocean blue
Barges, have you treasures in your hold
Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Out of my window, looking in the night
I can see the barges flickering light
Starboard's glowing green and port is glowing red
I can see the barges from my bed

Chorus

How my heart longs to sail away with you
As you sail across the ocean blue
But I must sit beside my window clear
As the barges sail away from here

Chorus

Out of my window looking in the night
I can see the barges flickering light
Taking their cargo out into the sea
How I wish that someday they'd take me

I am One Voice
Lyrics Video

I am one voice and I am singing.
I am one voice and I am singing.
I am one voice and I am singing.
I am not alone.

We are two voices we are singing.
We are two voices we are singing.
We are two voices we are singing.
We are not alone.

We are ## voices are singing.
We are ## voices are singing.
We are ## voices are singing.
We are not alone.

I am one voice and I am Singing
I am one voice and I am singing
I am one voice and I am Singing
We are not alone. (together)

I've Been Workin' on the Railroad
Lyrics Video

I've been working on the railroad
All the live long day
I've been working on the railroad
Just to pass the time away

Don't you hear the whistle blowing
Rise up so early in the morn'
Don't you hear the caption shouting
Dinah, blow your horn

Dinah won't you blow
Dinah won't you blow
Dinah, won't you blow your horn
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow,
Dinah, won't you blow your horn

Someone's in the kitchen with dinah
Someone's in the kitchen i know
Someone's in the kitchen with dinah
Strumming on the old banjo

Fee fie fiddle eell o
Fee fie fiddle eell o
Fee fie fiddle eell o
Strumming on the old banjo.

Donut Song
Lyrics Video

Well I walked around the corner and I walked around the block
And I walked right into a donut shop
And I picked up a donut right out of the grease
And I handed the lady a five cent piece

Well, she looked at the nickel and she looked at me
And she said, "This money isn't good you see.
There's a hole in the middle, I can see right through."
And I said, "There's a hole in the donut, too!
Thanks for the donut, so long!"

Linger Longer
Lyrics Video
Singing Video

Hmmm, I want to linger.
Hmmm, A little longer.
Hmmm, A little longer,
Here with you.
Hmmm, It's such a perfect night.
Hmmm, It doesn't seem quite right.
Hmmm, That this should be,
My last with you.
Hmmm, And come September,
Hmmm, I will remember,
Hmmm, Our Camping days,
Of friendships true.
Hmmm, And as the years go by,
Hmmm, I'll think of you and sigh.
Hmmm, This is good night
And not good bye.
Hmmm I want to linger.
Hmmm A little longer.
Hmmm A little longer,
Here with you.

America the Beautiful
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain
America! God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood

From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears.
America! God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain
America! God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!

Important Dates

Our next meeting will be on April 2nd. We will be continuing to work on our Journey and finish making our sit-upons for camp.

SU Camp is April 5-7. Please see previous post for details. Important documents are available on the post and on the FB group page.
http://girlscouttroop5125.blogspot.com/2017/03/spring-white-river-service-unit-campout.html?m=1o

Our meeting on the 3rd Tuesday has been moved to Monday the 15th due to scheduling conflicts.

2017-04-18 A World of Girls/Camping Prep.

We worked on our World of Girls Journey. The girls shared their Bookmobiles, did a story building relay race, did some role playing, and talked about the stories we've been reading in the Journey book. We continued our discussion about changing the story about an aspect of our community as we look forward to our next meeting where we will come up with ideas for Take Action Project.

For camping time we opened our new equipment purchased with our hard earned cookie money. We got a troop sized tent, new longer marshmallow skewers for our all important s'mores, and air mattresses for everyone. We then became familiar with how our new tent works to avoid any suprises in the field. The girls are excited to go camping this summer. 😁

2027-04-03 NEW GS Member Community Login

Girl Scouts Diamonds has launched a new web portal to manage all things related to the troop. Each girl/family can log in to see the troop calendar, yearly GS registeration, apply for financial assistance, and more.

Look for your invitation email sent on March 22. I searched "Welcome to the Girl Scout Member Community" to locate mine.

Let me know if you do not find an email. It was sent to email address you initially listed on your registeration/or have updated on the old website since registering. Some have been able to use the same login they used for the old site, I had to reset my password.

If you cannot find the email go directly to: https://goo.gl/C5u7bl
