Welcome!

I’ve done my best to summarize all the pertinent info. Forgive me if I’ve missed something, feel free to ask if you have any questions.

  • GSUSA membership is $25.00. The membership year is October 1st through September 31st. Follow this link and create an account. You’ll use this account to manage memberships and register for council sponsored events.
    http://www.girlscoutsdiamonds.org
  • Please sign the attached Annual Permission Slip.
  • Please have your girl(s) read and sign the Girl Code of Conduct.
  • Please fill out the Girl Health History and Medication Permission Form. We don’t anticipate needing to give the girls medication, however, if the need were to arise on a trip/campout, we’d like to know your wishes.
  • Girls are welcome to work on badges at home in addition to the ones we do as a troop. Simply complete the requirements and share at a meeting what you did to complete the badge. Badges cost $3.00. Many of the badge pamphlets can be found on our Google Drive here:  https://goo.gl/iPohET
  • Girl Scout Levels
    • Daisy: K-1st grade
    • Brownie: 2nd-3rd grade*
    • Junior: 4th-5th grade*
    • Cadette: 6th-8th grade
    • Senior: 9th-10th grade
    • Ambassador: 11th-12th grade
    • *currently accepting girls in 2nd, 3rd, 4th & 5th grades.
  • Refer to this Cost Breakdown page to get an idea of overall cost to participate. I came up with this after feeling like I was leaving something out when telling people about the GSUSA Membership Fee and the Starter Kit.
  • Attached is the Adult Code of Conduct, Adult Health History. I only need the Adult Health History if you chose to register and accompany us on trips or overnighters. Please refer to the GS Diamonds Memo regarding which adults need to be registered members with a background check. Click here to register an adult —> Adult Registeration . Select “Troop Family and Friends” and complete background check info. You may reference what is on a GSUSA background check here --> Sample Background Check
  • I have attached a break down of the Starter Kit (Daisy, Brownie). I made it last year for Brownie/Daisies, but the general relationship holds. While the items may be purchased individually, by purchasing the kit you essentially get the handbook and tote bag free. Refer to the Size Chart when ordering.  We have different size vests they can try on to see which will work best. I have also attached the current Starter Kit information form made by the GS Diamonds Council, it shows the current options for the Daisy and Brownie Basics in a Bag Starter Kit.  The kit can be brought to our Service Unit Meetings by a Diamond’s Council representative to avoid shipping costs (Next meeting is 11/6, I’d need order and pmt by 11/1. I can send you an invoice through Square Payments to pay the troop directly, then I’ll use the Troop card to pay council). OR you may order the kit at the http://www.girlscoutshop.com (However, the online shop requires you also purchase a $7 Journeyn book with the kit, which increases the price) OR You may stop by a GS Diamonds Council Shop (Little Rock, Fort Smith, Jonesboro, Rogers, Texarkana), there’s also shops in Oklahoma and Texas. Basics in a Bag Order Form
  • Participation in cookie sales is highly encouraged. We use the funds to cover the costs related to completing our badge work, as dues only partially cover the cost of a badge.  Any member who sells enough boxes to cover her membership fees will have this cost covered 100% by the troop (this is subject to change based on available funds and the needs of the Troop). Cookie sales begin on January 20th.
  • Dues are $2.00 per meeting.
  • Please see the blog for details on upcoming events.
  • Please join our Facebook Group for reminders, information, and updates:

  • Please join our Remind service for text messages about meetings or a change in plans.
    Text
    @troop5125 to the number 81010
    OR go to: remind.com/join/troop5125
  • I try to update our blog with meeting information and link any files for handouts.          http://girlscouttroop5125.blogspot.com

Digital Cookie

Girls can earn extra rewards when they make sales through their digital cookie web site.

Check your email for an email from:
“Girl Scout Cookies  email@email.girlscouts.org”
On January 4th.
Try searching your email for “digital cookies”.

If this doesn’t work, go to this link and request an email.
Digital Cookie Log In

Here you can set up your scout’s digital cookie page.

This link can be shared through email.

Digital Cookie Processing
You can also use this link to process in person orders with free credit card processing. During pre-orders, anything run through the app will need to be pre-paid as well. After cookies come in this shouldn’t be an issue because you will have cookies in hand. However, the link requires you to collect all the customer’s contact info.

Once your scout has run 100 boxes through the digital cookie link (including parcel shipped online orders) it’s probably simpler to use Square.

Square-up Processing
I will also be setting up free processing with Square processing links for every girl. With this you’ll be able to take a card with just the card info. You can use the Square app. Square also allows you to enter the order and select “invoice” instead of a payment method. This will allow you to text/email a link to the customer. They can enter their payment info themselves, on their own device, or at a later time if needed. The deposit will be tagged with your scout’s code and we’ll add that against the scout’s amount due.

For Square payments cards can be entered by hand OR I have several swipe readers that go in your headphone jack you may borrow.

Also, if a customer wants to pre pay a pre order you can send an invoice without having to collect sensitive card info jotted down somewhere else. Sometimes, just before delivery, I send out invoices and many pay at that time.

SquareUp App Download (iOS and Android)

While we have not had major isues with accepting checks, most people have a debit card associated with their checking account. Thus, there’s little reason to accept a check and the associated risk. While we will accept a check, a card is preferred. Checks should be made out to “Girl Scouts Troop 5125”.

Rag Dolls for Christmas Party Exchange

So, I'm messing with the doll and, it seems the directions I printed last minuet aren't the same as the ones used to create the kit. I've asked for those more particular directions and I will share them, when I get them.

You may choose not to use the skin colored area and remove it completely if you'd like, or simply move it closer to the top, if you prefer to use the directions that were enclosed. This will result in a fuller skirt.

Please don't feel like the doll needs to be totally decked out. Just a couple of touches of personality. Please remember to use appropriate materials that will last, i.e. fabric glue, fabric markers, tacking things on with thread and not temporary items such as electrical tape, washable markers, foamies, etc.

Above all have fun with it :)

Update 12/13/17:

The doll directions from last year found me! LOL, I had asked for a new copy, but hadn’t heard back and like magic there this was sitting in the middle of the dining room floor...I think the girls were rooting around in there.

Anyhow, the 2nd sheet shows how to get manageable arms with the centered head design.

I apologize for the quality, I used my phone to capture an already dark print out.

Here's some examples I found online.
